What is CSU MegaSearch?

It is a way to search multiple CSU online databases and the library’s book catalog simultaneously. You can search, for example, all of our education databases at the same time rather than searching them one by one. CSU MegaSearch is a federated search engine provided by WebFeat.

Why should I use CSU MegaSearch?

It is a quick and easy way to gather book citations, journal citations or full text articles on your topic.

When shouldn’t I use CSU MegaSearch?

It is best not to use CSU MegaSearch when you are doing in-depth research on a specific topic. CSU MegaSearch has very limited searching capabilities. CSU MegaSearch searches across a variety of resources, each with their own special features and performs a general search of the database. It can only search by keyword, title, and author. It does not have the ability to “fine tune” a search. For example, you will not be able to limit your results to peer reviewed articles using CSU MegaSearch.

For advanced searching, you should use the actual database rather than CSU MegaSearch.

How do I use CSU MegaSearch?

Enter your search terms as you do on any other database. Be as specific as possible dividing your topic into concepts- one concept or idea on each line.

Select whether you want to limit your results to full text articles.

Select whether you want to limit your results by date.

Click on the broad subject you wish to search. You may select more than one broad subject area.

Select whether you wish to search our library’s book catalog as well as the journal databases.

Click on the green search button.

Your results initially appear grouped by database. You can also reorganize them by relevancy (recommended).
