I was struck by the good will shown toward the library by these five people, four of whom were students otherwise unassociated with the library. One was a staff member.

Also, the reference staff had shown helpfulness, though the level of need is not high.

Only portions of the web site devoted to finding had been explored by the students. I believe much of our web site is staff-directed as support information. The data available online serve as ticklers for the use of staff, faculty, and administrators in their capacities as planners and patron-centered responders.

This suggests that means of building "help the students help themselves," (as was hinted in the focus group) needs to be created and supported. The inertia resides in a behavior of "help me help the patron," rather than "help the patron help the patron" as is desirable.
