You and your class are invited to the Fall 2008 Library Information Fair to be held on the 4th floor of the library on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 9th and 10th at 10am, 2pm and 6pm each day. This event will offer you and your students the opportunity to gain an enhanced understanding of the library and its many services. Learn about our many new databases! New Resource! - Gale Virtual Reference Library

The Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Initially focusing on public policy and business, the CSU library has access to 24 titles in this series.

Black Studies Center now available

The Black Studies Center supports research, teaching, and learning in Black Studies and other disciplines. This resource includes the Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience, a series of interdisciplinary essays and topical studies designed to help define the development of Black Studies, International Index to Black Periodicals (IIBP), two historical black newspapers (Chicago Defender and the Daily Defender), and the Black Literature Index which includes over 70,000 bibliographic citations for fiction, poetry and literary reviews published in 110 black periodicals and newspapers between 1827-1940.

CSU Library now has access to JSTOR Collections I and IV

JSTOR is a high-quality, interdisciplinary archive of scholarship striving to preserve over one thousand academic journals in both digital and print formats. Its goal is to expand access to scholarly works and other materials needed for research and teaching globally.

Chicago State University has access to two major JSTOR collections, Arts and Sciences 1 and Arts and Sciences IV.

Arts and Sciences 1 (119 titles) includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities, social sciences, ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Arts and Sciences IV (112 titles) has a strong focus on the professions of business, education, and law, and also includes titles in psychology, public policy and administration.

Full text access to the Chronicle of Higher Education updated daily with the latest news in academe. Includes all the text from the current print edition, a searchable archive of back issues going back to September 1989, commentary and essays from the weekly magazine, The Chronicle Review, as well as data from the annual Almanac. The Office of Digital Initiatives has added an RSS feed to this web site. This was requested by the Reference Unit of the Department of Public Services (LISPS) to provide enhanced patron access to up-to-date news. Both a feed and a news page are available. The RSS feeder can be obtained at the bottom of this page or by clicking the RSS button on the CSU Library Home Page and choosing your news aggregator.

News items can now be created immediately as needed here by authenticated library staff members.
